Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions Page. We have posted pretty much every question we have received to date here. If you have a question not listed here please send it to me at mia@CreditImprovementSpecialists.com

  1. So What does CIS really do for me?
    1. Well CIS does a lot to get your credit cleaned up and remove derogatory items from your credit report thus increasing your FICO Scores. How we go about doing this is somewhat proprietary but in broad terms we will contact your creditors directly, on your behalf, to discuss and negotiate them into removing negative items from your report. Over 75% of all reports have errors in the reporting of information, we find these mistakes and use them to get items deleted.

  1. What is this going to cost me?
    1. Well the first thought is really what is your credit already costing you in higher interest rates, larger deposits every time you set up a new account, and possible loss of employment opportunities because of your credit. When you compare our fee to these items it becomes obvious that we are a great deal. We have a small fee for our initial consultation of $300 for one person and $500 for a couple. This is your only out of pocket expense. We will explain this in more detail when we speak. The reminder of our fee is on a case by case basis and in most cases we are able to make this a not out of pocket expense.

  1. Can I fix my own credit?
    1. Yes you can.  This is why we have a page on our website that instructs you on  how to do this yourself. While you are fully able to work on your own credit, I must caution you that it will be a difficult process. Credit Improvement Specialists has a sound track record and has developed relationships with people inside the creditors offices that work with us to Improve Your FICO Scores by deleting derogatory items from your report. I always equate it to changing the oil in my car. I know I can do it myself, but I always choose to have an oil shop do it form me because it ia faster and cleaner.

  1. I keep reading about how Credit Repair Companies are Scams. How do I know CIS is legitimate?
    1. Many sites that speak about Credit Repair are either selling it or cautioning you about it. While on some of the websites cautioning you about credit repair state that you can do it on your own and that negative items will stay on your report for seven years no matter what, they are only giving the first half of the story. The FCRA says that items CAN stay on your report for UP TO 7 years or 10 year. But it also says that the items MUST be Accurate or be removed and over 75% of people credit reports contain inaccuracies. In addition creditors will negotiate with us if we can show a value to do so to them. As far as how is CIS different, we have set ourselves up with a Guarantee for our work. I have seen the same sites you might be looking at that state that no one can Guarantee their work on a credit report. Well they are Wrong about that. We Do In Fact Guarantee our work by not charging you for it until we are done. So you don’t pay for our work until we have actually done it. What better Guarantee can you get. It is actually illegal in most states for a Credit Repair Company to charge you before they do their job. But many do charge up front for their full service fee. Stay away from companies with monthly fees.

  1. What type of items can you get deleted?
    1. Well it is really a case by case deal. It is definitely lender specific and relies on relationships we have with some creditors. No B.S here, if you foreclosed on your home last week or three months ago, we most likely will not be able to do anything to help you. BK last week, in a month we might be able to help you get the items all included in it and reported properly as creditors seem to have a difficult time with this. Reporting late payments on credit cards, cars, mortgages, anything that shows on your credit, we can work with for you.

  1. What is the downside of my working on my own credit?
    1. Well besides the time it takes and the overbearing creditors whose only job is to get money out of you, you need to be aware of the frustrations that you are going to be up against.  While I love what we get to do for our clients, I will be the first to admit that I cannot stand the process and I leave that up to the very capable professionals we have on our staff. It definitely takes a certain type of person to work at their job. I tried it and I much prefer to work with our clients and deliver the good news when our job is done than deal with the creditors. With that said, you also need to understand that when you are working on your credit you do have the chance of actually lowering your scores with erroneous disputes to the credit bureaus. They might even refuse to investigate your challenge if they feel there is a pattern or they have looked at it before. This is why we go to the creditors first, get the item corrected and deleted and then Update the Bureaus instead of disputing with the bureaus.

  1. How do I know you can do what you say you can?
    1. This one is easy. Check out our Proof page. Here we post some of the letters we get from the creditors to “correct” the items on our clients credit reports. So go ahead, take a look and please note that we will deliver the same results for you.

  1. How long have you been doing this?
    1. Great question. We have been doing credit repair for about 5years now. We started in our primary business as a Mortgage Broker and I was improving credit for our clients  as we needed to, to get them to qualify for a mortgage loan and help them out of their situation. As time went on, the credit business was growing and people outside of my company were asking us to work on their clients. I believe when you have enough people asking me to do work for them, then I need to take notice and provide the service. So recently we set up Credit Improvement Specialists. We started to work for brokers who needed to help their clients. We started to market our services and it has been a great response, especially by word of mouth because once someone works with us, they experience what we do and know we can help their friends and family. So short answer, 5 years for me and a little over 5 years for Mia who is credited for our current system and methods.

  1. I am a mortgage Broker and I want to send you some of my clients but how do I know that you won’t take my client and close the loan yourself?
    1. 1st that would be so far below our standards and ethics that it is not a concern in any way. I set these businesses up to run completely separate. So while we use the brokers license to perform our duties as a credit repair company, we NEVER EVER would cross the boundaries to get a loan that wasn’t originated by our own means. My Loan Officers know very little about the credit repair side of the business. As a matter of fact , they only know about the clients they refer over. There are no complaints about us doing such a thing. There are only praises for the wonderful service we provide. Our broker network loves working with us.

  1. How long will this whole process take?
    1. It depends on the individual credit file but in most cases we are able to get our job done in 30 to 45 days. Remember, we don’t get paid until we get your file completed, so we have every incentive to push and drive your file though the process.
